Bdrive
Bdrive is a highly secure cloud solution commissioned by the German Federal Printing Office (BDr). Bdrive based on the concept of Redundant Array of Independent Clouds (RAIC): This innovative approach ensures data security by dividing encrypted data into smaller chunks and dispersing them among various cloud platforms. Bdrive stands out as the only cloud solution certified according to Common Criteria in collaboration with the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
Refreshing the overall product experience and design to optimize user’s workflow.
Creating the visual identity, crafting icon design language, developing the design system, defining user flows, creating wireframes and prototypes

Problems and Solutions
Due to the complex encryption technology and the emphasis on data protection, extensive and complex user flows had to be implemented.
By working closely with the developers, we were able to translate complex processes into simple illustrations and user-friendly flows.
There were already major competitors on the market of cloud storage solutions, with whom Bdrive also had to compete in the end.
We embodied the core values of Bdrive by building trust and highlighting the security level through a visually friendly interface.
Result
Bdrive is a desktop and web application to access and manage files. With Bdrive, we have developed a product that is the first cloud storage solution that meets German security standards (BSI-certificate) and is highly recognizable thanks to its unique look Two unique selling propositions that set Bdrive apart from the competition.
Activity Center
The Activity Center provides a comprehensive overview of recent actions, such as file uploads, edits, and shares, helping users stay informed about the latest updates.
Web App
The Web App is the counterpart to the Desktop App, eliminating the need to download the application. It gives users the value of accessibility from any device with an internet connection, ensures real-time synchronization, and makes it easy to access files on the go.
User Management Dashboard
The user management dashboard enables administrators to give permissions to devices, control and manage access to data within the shared storage environment.
Login and Registration
Due to the high security standards, the registration requires more steps than a usual registration. Admin verification is always mandatory before a user can register.
Icon Style
The icon style I worked on with Lucas Vogel creates an eye-catching visual language that enhances the user experience and leaves a lasting impression.
Facts
After the visual and conceptual improvements, we conducted a follow-up user survey and asked 80 participants whether they felt an increased sense of trust and security by asking the following question: “How would you rate the feeling of trust and security with the redesign (1-5)?”
74% of users in our test gave the highest rating of 5, fully confirming that the visual refresh contributed to an increased sense of trust and security.
